How can Reiki benefit you?

One of the great benefits of Reiki is that it can help with healing on both a physical and emotional level.  Reiki can assist with:

 

  • Improved mood and emotional wellbeing

 

  • Reduced stress and increased relaxation

 

  • Better sleep and improved insomnia symptoms

 

  • Reduced pain and improvement in musculoskeletal conditions

 

  • Improvement in PMS/Menopausal/Post-natal symptoms

 

  • Improvement in digestive and respiratory conditions

 

  • For people with cancer, improved anxiety and reduced pain

There are no known side effects to Reiki and therefore it can do no harm.

What can I expect to feel during a Reiki treatment?

During a Reiki session, you remain fully clothed (so please wear comfortable clothing) and lie on a treatment bed.  If you are unable to lie down, the session can be performed whilst you are seated. Reiki is based on balancing the chakras so I would lightly place my hands in certain positions which are known to re-balance the chakras.  This technique would also be used to treat specific injury sites.  

 

The beauty of Reiki is that you will feel an immediate response.  Some clients see colours and images and/or feel sensations such as heat, tingling, vibration or pins and needles which are all perfectly normal.  The way that I interpret these sensations is that energy should flow through your body like water through a hose but when there is a kink in that hose, the water becomes blocked.  During a Reiki session, these kinks become unblocked allowing the flow of energy and this results in the sensations described.  

 

During the session, it is entirely up to you whether you wish to chat or not!  Relaxing music can be played – if you have any preferred relaxing music, please feel free to bring it to the session. A session usually lasts 1 hour but can vary.

It is important that you have an open mind and believe that the treatment will work for you in order for you to fully benefit from your reiki session.

Assisting with negative past experiences

Whilst trauma should always be treated by an expert in psychological health, reiki can assist with coming to terms with lower-level past experiences.  Reiki can be used to heal the past and can make the memory of a past experiences less impactive on your psychological health. 

How many treatments would be required?

 

Reiki is a deeply relaxing therapy so a session will always be beneficial.  However, the effects of Reiki are cumulative so when treating a specific condition/issue, it is likely that 3 or more sessions may be required. How frequently you will require a treatment will depend on your response and recovery.  Each case will be assessed on an individual basis.

 

Following a treatment, it is important to drink plenty of water and try and rest.  The reiki energy will continue to work for up to 24 hours following the session.
